On balance, I think we really don't grasp how deeply mentally ill Trump is and has been for a long, long time.

Something to do with the way the media covered him has really managed to blind many Americans to the obscenity of the man currently running their country.
Sex offender, serial embezzler, tax evader, blackmailer, inciter of insurrection, extortionist, he fucking tore down half the fucking WHITE HOUSE.
But people still want to fantasise the existence of some spicy Russian kompromat.

Far more important that pointing out Trump's multiple criminalities and anti-constitutional behaviour, or his complete lack of morality, or his decimation of what fact actually constitutes...
What is it in us that compels us to keep dreaming up some secret sins, when the sins right out in plain view are the worst sins any President has ever committed?

Ultimately, I think if we do not dig into what fascinates us, attracts us, obsesses us, dominates our attention regarding the obscene spectacle that is Trump, we will get more Trumps again and again.
Because even if we absolutely HATE him - that is still a kind of relation to him.
Why isn't it that we are so sick to the teeth with Trump that we no longer click? How could we not have become utterly bored with this daily horror soap opera?

@missusgumby @Remittancegirl absolutely no sense of humor and a shite dancer.

@Remittancegirl I agree with you, but I’m not sure that the thinking that the Russians have spicy (or boring) Kompromat is entirely a fantasy. Given all of the other things that you’ve listed. It is almost certain that a lot of nations and people have lots of Kompromat on him, including a lot of powerful people in the US. This also applies to everyone in his administration, the GOP, the SCROTUS, and that is why they have worked so hard for years to control the media.

Somehow, it still pays media companies and news organisations to manufacture a coherence that doesn't exist and, day after day, fill our newsfeeds with his crap.
Here's two things I know for sure:
1. if he didn't get the attention he gets, he would never have been elected once and certainly not twice.
2. If he didn't make these companies money, they'd find something else to feed us, which would starve him of oxygen - which would be his demise. -

@Remittancegirl slightly tangential, but it always was hard for me to understand why the WTC conspiracy stuff had so much purchase with some people, when the stuff Bush had done in the open (illegal war, torture programme) should have been enough to condemn him.
