    current status after 40% job cut:s

    me: i am pretty sure they keep me & other person around in the age of AI because they know if something goes wrong, you need someone to actually fix this shit. Otherwise, the state of the team is:

    9 devs fully burned out with AI & the old way of coding

    2 devs fully adopted AI

    1 dev does the bare minumum & getting ready to become an electric contractor

    3 people doing multiple jobs of reviewing PRs, providing support, emails, running many AI agents etc (1/2)

      currently there is no evidence that any productivity is gained using these forced AI tools. if anything everyone is nervous because they don't know if they are next in the line. btw, CFO is worried that cost of AI is more because they are running those AI agents 24x7. the whole thing is a mess. nobody is knows what the hell is going on anymore. the legal teams wants to know what those AI companies do with customer data and there is no clear answer from anyone. welcome to modern IT. @nixCraft And there's no mention of long-term supportability.

        The next decade is going to be a parade of misery in corporate IT/development.

          @nixCraft 'The C-suite removed as much of the knowledge from the knowledge-worker department as they could and now no one knows what's going on anymore' seems like more-or-less the expected outcome here... might be a good time to work on your CV/resumè?

              P.S.: what do you mean by "9 devs fully burned out with AI & the old way of coding"

                @rhold @drsbaitso

                they are stuck in some sort of context switching hell, you know they are trying to maintain legacy systems while being told to just use AI for everything while 40% of people gone and 100% of those 40% job load shifted to them. the AI doesn't understand why something was done this way etc. they are not leaving jobs because they have bills to pay so it is 200% mental stress of increased job loads and responsibilities

                  @nixCraft Every AI and Coding post pushes me to become an electrician (in maintenance) too, lmao. And that's what will do if my Plan A (finding a job before September) fails.
