      @fesshole I had a samarium cobalt magnet that I had to keep in a sock, elsewise it would become so firmly attached that it could not be budged. I am pretty certain it is still attached to a hydraulic door return in a dormitory building in Providence, Rhode Island.

        @fesshole if the watch was ruined by a magnet it wasn’t an expensive one. Unless you dropped the magnet on it from a great height, that is.

          I don't think many 80s mechanical watches were using a lot of silicon components.
