@SwiftOnSecurity Will any game ever be released natively for Linux ever again after Valve & Steam's involvement in Proton... I wonder...

@SwiftOnSecurity The Loki logo is pure nostalgia, even though my Linux boxes at the time weren't capable of running 3d games.

@SwiftOnSecurity There was a Linux version of UT2K4, iirc. Also Tribes 2?

@BackFromTheDud @SwiftOnSecurity There were plenty of Linux builds back in the day, created by Loki Software. But I do think Q3A was the only one to have a retail, big box, release.
In some occasions a Linux installer was on disc, but in most cases you had to download it.
Ryan C. Gordon and Sam Lantinga, two former Loki devs, are still around doing great work including developing SDL.

I clicked one of the links and saw this:
                Apache/2.4.58 (Ubuntu) Server at www.lokigames.com Port 443

Ubuntu 24.04 maybe, I wonder who is keeping it up haha

@SwiftOnSecurity I had that steel/tin box version too. Happy memories.
I'm pretty sure there was some civilisation game that I got the boxed (cardboard, not metal) release of too.

@ferdifz *One of the few games ever sold in a retail box*, among games that were released *natively* for Linux...

There are plenty of games released natively for Linux¹: Life is Strange, Life is Strange BtS, Life is Strange 2, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, multiple Warhammer games, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider… to name a few from only a single developer/publisher.

                              1. As is natively using Vulkan. So I'm obviously not referring to Valve's Proton

@gbraad @SwiftOnSecurity That and Railroad Tycoon II were the games I wanted the most.

I already had the windows version of Alpha Centauri, so I didn't want to spend my limited pocket money on it.

The one retailer that carried Loki games though only ever seemed to have stuff like Quake III.
