Google will require all apps on certified Android devices, including sideloaded ones, to come from verified developers starting March 2026. Developers view this as a power grab and launched the "Keep Android Open" movement. Enforcement begins September 2026 in Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand, with more regions later.
