    @sean_ae @elifyalvac @oscillik @Rushup_Dee Now I won't be able to sleep, imagining this. 🔥

    I can admit the snares are *so* bad that I'm not sure even you could model them.

          @sean_ae @elifyalvac @Rushup_Dee I’m sure these GBA posts are why I’ve been sharing remixing stuff randomly. 😄

              @sean_ae @elifyalvac @Cognessence @oscillik @Rushup_Dee i might step into the fray and say gm stuff initially appealed in a "oh how weird, this is funny but bad".

              back in the livejournal days i used to find gm versions of unlikely songs and that shit cracked me up. i guess i feel about the same about it as i do about the n64 soundfont things on youtube

              https://youtu.be/AEfhizNQh70?si=01LG7ej36KraovmN

              btw this thread is how i just learned gm is no longer native in mac os.

                  @sean_ae @elifyalvac @Cognessence @oscillik @Rushup_Dee here's a bunch of Yngwie Malmsteen songs in gm if you're so inclined:

                    @Cognessence @elifyalvac @oscillik @Rushup_Dee imagine if I saw the light suddenly and started making GM sounding music with them bad snares and really loud flat strings but in Max

                    All modelled really anally

                            @sean_ae @c_reider @elifyalvac @oscillik @Rushup_Dee Actually the "uncaring" is a good point - has made me rethink things a bit. Although it was always the sounds I was attracted to.

                            Also enjoy the n64 soundfont things c.reider mentioned. 🙏

                              @miblo @sean_ae @elifyalvac @Rushup_Dee I've realised the melody is "two wrongs make a right" on most tracks on the E.P, haha!

                              I mean, making the first bits of the "conversation" consonant, and then doing odd turns on the third stroke.

                              It's all about threes! 😄

                                  @sean_ae @Cognessence @elifyalvac @oscillik @Rushup_Dee the gm stuff only really sounds interesting when augmented, like some artists do on orange milk for example. if i had to choose between different sound sources for pc i'd absolutely never take gm tho, especially if you had the option for adlib or yamaha fm (like on the x68000 for example with its base sound chip) or like gravis ultrasound-like wavetable instead.

                                    @tsrono @c_reider @elifyalvac @Cognessence @oscillik @Rushup_Dee nah this is good, I rate it

                                    The stabs coming in was ace
                                    But the loud melody after that is a bit loud

                                    I’m gonna fall asleep to this album now so if I wake up a changed man it’s your fault

                                          @sean_ae @Cognessence @elifyalvac @oscillik @Rushup_Dee gm sound and vaporwave is a bit of a chicken and the egg situation. do we associate these sounds to vaporwave because that's what was sampled, or was vaporwave an aesthetic trend that just didn't really have a name and was just codified.

                                          like, devil summoner soul hackers is to me an actual vaporwave artifact. i know it existed at the time but it's an incredible sum of all that the aesthetic represents, ost included: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl6pv2f3ILU
