Ok. I’m finally doing it. After years of false starts, and waiting for the game to be complete before starting it, I’m starting No Man’s Sky afresh.

I now realise it may never be finished, and I’ll burn out before seeing all it has to offer, but it is a Herculean effort all round.

Maybe I’ll get bored, but it’s worth a shot.

@masek I remember a path I took being a helluva grind. I’m considering looking up what the best difficulty would be to minimise admin

@SecurityWriter Don't I know it. Maybe once you are done or I see enough of your play-through or discussion of it I'll risk it.

Good lord when did 2021 become 5yrs ago?

@SecurityWriter Someone told me to buy it.

I got bored 45 minutes in.

I have no idea if this was before or after the, "game got good."

@SecurityWriter I keep looking at it again (like, just this minute come back out of it) but there's so much in there now that I don't want. I just want to go back to the days when it was all empty and there was nothing to do. Now it all feels too busy and stressful.

However, photo mode is still pretty.

@SecurityWriter sometimes you cannot win and sometimes the others are winning.
But that should not be a big problem since you can make holes, right?

@SecurityWriter Ok. I saw that you want to start fresh. In the beginning you will always start on a hazardous planet. And with the multitool you can dig holes wight from the beginning. iirc and they haven't changed it since a year and a a half when i played the last time.

@janeishly it’s the initial grind that gets me. It feels deep, but I’m not sure if it is. But getting to that point is difficult

@SecurityWriter Yeah, I've restarted a few times for some of the expeditions (most recently the ??freighter?? update) but I just find it very grindy. I keep thinking I ought to be able to ignore the quest elements and just chill, like I used to when I loved it so much, but it never seems to be possible (I know it would be easier if I started a new creative save, but what would I do without the Lemon Gentleman?)

@janeishly I think my curiosity lies in finding out how deep the systems are.

That’s the thing that might possibly hook me.

                                        @nuintari @SecurityWriter

I loved the exploration, but hated the base building and found it tedious and sometimes confusing. Since I couldn’t get too far without the base building, it became a walking simulator.

I also don’t know if this is before or after it got good.

@SecurityWriter you should have a terraforming gun? You can just tunnel through the earth. Handy on dangerous planets.

@mikesiegel not this early in the game unfortunately, or at least hadn’t been shown it. You get it almost immediately after the section though.

I just made a new game, was luck of the worldgen gods unfortunately.
