@VeroniqueB99 See now, I'd post them as a list with pictures of Trump breaking every single one.

@VeroniqueB99 It's good that the children will be able to see how equally ridiculous all of the religions are, yes.

@Wyatt_H_Knott @VeroniqueB99 Religion is just narcissism with a forged permission slip.

Don't challenge my assertion. God to me that only I am special enough to hear his true words. Because God told me, you can't question it. Words written in books and taught in churches and temples have been corrupted by the desires of man and will lead you astray.Only I know the real absolute truth™. If you attack the truth, it means you're a dirty godless heathen but don't worry. I'll pray for you.

@obscurestar Religion is a crutch for those who cannot accept that their life only has the meaning they give it.

Totally bonkers! Religion is a human invention to control humans. You are from the univers and you will return to the univers. Religion kills progress. The schooled people in the old days had the power (books etc.) just as now how social media and TV is used.

@VeroniqueB99 Never thought I'd say this but, "I'd like to see Scientology represented too." Really drive home just how scammy and made up religions are.

I mean Joseph Smith's Space Jesus is no less ridiculous than scientology's Space Jesus and Hubbard is a more coherent and engaging fiction author.

@Wyatt_H_Knott @VeroniqueB99 I don't mind the crutch aspect of it. If it gives someone a sense of purpose and community and leads them to a happy and productive life, that's great.

I just don't see religion doing that most of the time. More often it's used as a cudgel by insecure xenophobes who have no rational basis for asserting their domination of another group as being 'more good' than them. Which, is ironic, given that, on paper, most big religions say 'Don't be a jerk to strangers.'

I think it would be very instructive to focus especially on the ninth commandment.

That’s the commandment that forbids falls witness

@VeroniqueB99 The best way to prevent fundamentalism of any variant is to teach people comparative religion. When people can see how the tenets of their "default" faith evolved from previous traditions, it is hard to be a "my book or go to hell" fanatic.

Speaking of hell, we can also see how the imagery of hell evolved from ancient Egypt through Dante. In an earlier variant, for example, the lake of fire was a moat to keep people in.

Religion is the flower that grows on the bush of culture. Religion can produce religious wars or ecumenical embrace. But it's faith, the evidence of things not seen, as St. Paul said.

Religion is a great justifier, a great excuse-maker, a liar, a braggart. Though religion has preached peace on earth, it has become the greatest engine of violence known to man.

I still believe. I still don't know why.
