@Thatonepersonwithaface i feel more and more there’s frustrating with streaming services charging more and still including ads
and there’s always the older clientele that just don’t have the patience for getting the services
i think there might be something here
@hex i can tell you that one store I used to go to (about 15 years ago) would charge a $5 monthly fee for rentals, and $10 for membership buying of dvds, list price for nonmembership purchase.
I do love feeling of sifting through my options, and I've also read Generation Z is really into the blockbuster experience they missed -

i honestly loved that and would want to do something like that

@hex I'd say it'd be right up my alley, and as I said, I know a lot of Gen Z folks who are enamoured with the concept, if you got a popcorn machine like they have at Rural King for folks browsing, I think you'd be in business.

@hex "every David Lycnh movie comes with a three pound bag of chicken feed.
No reason, we just think he liked chickens"

imagining an aisle that is basically “stuff you literally cannot find on streaming”
if i can get one kid to accidentally rent The Fall (2006) and fall in love with it that would honestly fill my heart so much
-
@josie i want to make a wonderful weird corner like that

@courtney y’all keep giving me examples of successes gonna actually make me do something drastic - like write up a business plan or something
@hex If the path is also a theater, movie madness is owned by the nonprofit that also owns the Hollywood theater here, worth taking a look at how their membership structure and fundraising messaging works.
A lot of the Hollywood (and the Clinton, another gem in town)'s repairs and features were crowdfunded, iirc it's how the Hollywood got at least some of the $$ for their 70mm projector
