@killyourfm this has been my goal recently as well. it is tough, given how many outlets sensationalize and peddle doomerism.

@killyourfm it's all in who you follow my friend. Not that I've got the news to joy ratio right either.

@killyourfm I'm going out of my way to consolidate my socials and filter more intentionally (cya Facebook, everyone I talk to on there is on my rcs messaging app anyway, didn't even use Tiktok), the evening news on the TV and odd YT/DeSo drama will be the source of most of my problems now lol

@killyourfm There was a mess of a story in the ASMR community that ended up just being used to ruin the lives of a couple earnest creators for about a week and I just.... needed to rest.

@chrislowles Good for you! Mastodon is the only social network I'm active on now, but even as wonderful as it is... it can be draining. Ironically, because so many people on this platform actually care. They're into activism. Truth-seeking. They call out bullshit. All of that should be applauded, but it can also be mentally exhausting. Does that make any sense?

@killyourfm @chrislowles yep makes complete sense. We're not built for living in constant crisis.
If I'm sharing news/activism I try to tag/CW it so that folks who need to can filter it out and only follow folks who do likewise.

@intrepidhero @chrislowles That's a great idea, thanks for doing that.

@killyourfm I find lists and only following those lists helps!

@killyourfm been there. You are allowed to set boundaries and decide that Mastodon can be manly for fun.
It doesn’t mean you don’t care. It means you focus your energy where it matters.
