Pixelfed really needs to add software filtering support, so we can ensure we maintain the experience that users expect, without being inundated with content from non-photo sharing centric platforms.

@dansup@mastodon.social Would this effect things like users seeing things for Mastodon, Sharkey and other instances because I like that my posts that have an image in them go up there to, especially as I only really put an image if it's something relevant or is the center of the topic.
Also shouldn't this be down to the users, shouldn't they be able to tweak there feed to allow certain software. -

@dansup I am not sure why this escalated so quickly and we are now at a point where blocking long-form content is on the table!?
I simply wanted to start a discussion about it

@pfefferle Not going to lie, but this article* really did hurt, and maybe for the right reason, Pixelfed isn't a universal do-everything platform, it's photo focused.
Your PR just reminded me of that, and I admit, I did get a bit heated, but there is no plans to block long-form content, rather, I think Pixelfed should allow users to filter this at their level, giving them the power to choose levels of federated content they want to see.

@dansup we do not disagree on that point!
I never voted for bringing the text to pixelfed! but there are beautiful gallery posts out there and I think they belong to a photoverse platform.
this this was by no means meant to make pixelfed a "jack-of-all-trades" content wise!
I agree that simply allowing `Article` might be a very short-sighted solution, but I would love to find a solution that allows photo posts to show up on pixelfed, egardless if the type is `Article` or `Note`!

@dansup @pfefferle The best idea imo is to make a tag saying which type of service its, so that other federated image sharing platforms still get included.
Or you just hide all posts with no image. -
