Perhaps there are other factors at play?

@markarayner this is not bad at all. Who's the author?
Why do you say it's not a bad design? Reading top-down, left to right (as is the case in the Western world), it states:
"I used the golden ratio bad but my is still design."
It's hilariously bad.

@peteorrall @markarayner because it was intended, and it works

@peteorrall @alexeystar @markarayner
An alternate reading is:
"I used the golden ratio bad but my design is still"
That is at least grammatically correct, but I'm not sure it makes much more sense.
-
@markarayner Some of us just suck at graphic design.
-
@markarayner Could use some blinking , and still have the golden ratio. Also maybe some more variety in fonts and kerning?

@bruce @alexeystar @markarayner
In my brain, I read (interpreted?) it as:
"I used the golden ratio but my design is still bad."
However, the joke was well received.

Dan Brown fans everywhere are reaching for the pitch forks.
-
@markarayner reminds me of this one, which is probably a better fit for the golden ratio

-
@markarayner lolololol
-
@markarayner it's perfect 🥹
-
@markarayner of course: the image was not resized properly! it's horizontally stretched.
-
@markarayner needs more fonts, obviously
@burnitdown @markarayner clearly the font sizes should have also followed a decreasing Fibonacci sequence…
-
@markarayner i know many people who "did this" and they we're very convinced that nothing can go wrong because they had that genius golden ratio intuition.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
