      @MostlyHarmless

      99% sounds like a fair tax rate for billionaires at this point.

            Problem with taxing billionaires is they get most of their wealth by extorting people, so the more we tax them, the more they tighten the screw and pass on the buck. "Oh, I'm simply forced to increase rent by that bad, bad government who's taxing me."

            The solution of course is repossessing their property. They can't hike rents on something they no longer own!

                @MostlyHarmless “Nooo you can’t tax billionaires, they’re going to just leave to another country”

                Okay, then let’s also tax capital and assets being relocated to fill any loopholes. Let them move away once they’ve paid their fair share, we don’t need them 🤷‍♂️

                    I just realized
                    they won't be able to buy private jets
                    or huge yachts!

                    Perish the thought!

                      Or people think “tax cuts” means less taxes and more benefits for them. So they support it.

                          @JackMexa4 @TheWolfOfSouthEnd @MostlyHarmless They do though.

                          You're actually not going to touch a billionaire with an increase in taxes on any sort of income. Perhaps something that triggers when they take loans on potential (but not actually realized) profit.

                          They play games we can't play. We end up attacking cuts and business benefits that help smaller businesses and people and just never address the bullshit games they play to just say they are broke and in debt so they don't pay shit.

                            Small Business should be in a different category for sure.

                            You are also right that billionaires don’t have taxable income. They own everything, but evade taxes somehow due to those tax code maneuvering and counting their spending as company expenses and so.

                              @MostlyHarmless Or we put all the epstein billionaires in prison, take all their money and absolve everyone else from having to pay any tax at all.

                                @JackMexa4 @TheWolfOfSouthEnd @MostlyHarmless Being able to spend money on expenses associated with your business is very important for small businesses. It's a perfect example of attacking something that is totally unrelated to billionaires but would hurt everyone else if done away with.

                                Billionaires don't have to worry about that shit at all. They take loans on the amount of money they'd get if they sold their stocks to people who'd buy them based on perceived future value.
