went on another walk with my IR camera from my previous thread. Even managed to catch a few rays of sunlight in between the otherwise grey week.

It continuous to be a lot of fun and I slowly get the hang of focusing correctly! There are some image artifacts and out-of-focus regions at times, but that is okay with this 2011 camera.. ๐Ÿ˜„

The resulting photos also just keep blowing my mind, this is sooo good! Also there are some interesting observations, the concrete in the third photo does not reflect much, if any IR, while the foliage does. This is also something you can feel in the summer, while streets are incredibly hot, trees and grass usually are pretty chill as they do not absorb a lot of IR!

and there are more tricks we can do with a full spectrum camera!! This photo of a flower contains UV as well, you can clearly see how the flower is much more vibrant and glowy than the other foliage. This is to attract bees and other insects that can also see UV light! So cool!

I ordered a UV filter to just take UV images, hope that that will reveal another vibrant, unknown to me world

@janamarie just be aware that most lenses, i.e. ''plain glass'' already filters out a lot of UV on its own. UV lenses get pretty expensive pretty soon ๐Ÿ˜ฌ...

@lasse @janamarie i mean uv also is a wide spectrum normal glass will let through a lot more 365nm than 193

anyway I really like the quality of light in these, it can look a bit eerie. in that last image I see an overcast sky and harsh shadows

also, hi, it's me, IR selfies look weird. Not bad, just... weird.. ๐Ÿ˜„

as you can see by the background plants, I hue shifted this to be a bit more natural. If you have seen Dune 2, you might recognize this 'look'. I believe they used an IR modified camera there as well to film the fight scenes on Giedi Prime of the Harkonnen, albeit with a different cutoff filter

@janamarie Yes, the behind the scenes stuff on that is really interesting particularly how they managed the transition.

Loving these pics. Wondering if I can do this with my old Nikonโ€ฆ (will have to wait though)

went on another walk with my IR camera from my previous thread.

@azonenberg @janamarie the CoastalOpt 60mm UV-VIS-IR is kind of a ''dream lens'' ๐Ÿคค, but it's Nikon-F, manual only, and something like 6 kilobucks IIRC...

@fichek oooh! That looks fantastic! You can try switching the red and blue channel and play with white balance to get pink foliage
