    So, you never know with this administration & with how desperate so many Republicans are to show loyalty to Daddy Trump but... I'm pretty sure Markwayne Mullin is the chump that they nominated so that after he doesn't get confirmed, the NEXT choice will look better.

    Because this dude is a chump. Not even just standard Trump administration chump. He's world-class level, completely, utterly clueless.

      I mean, he, a US Senator stated in his Senate hearing yesterday: "I can't make the law. You guys do that."

      Yes, he's trying to get a job where he can't make laws, but when this currently sitting US Senator is asked what legislation he would want to see on a specific thing, he responded "I can't make the law." Does he know what his current job IS?

      Again, I wouldn't put it past the Trump admin to actually want this guy, but I dunno.

      He's just got "chump" written all over his face.

          Rand Paul is the chairman of the Senate committee on Homeland Security, & Rand Paul has personal reason to hate the guy.

          It was funny watching him grilled by Rand Paul & realizing that Markwayne Mullin is the kind of guy who is usually unaware that his actions have consequences.

          I'm not a fan of Rand Paul, but it was still pretty fucking funny.

            When Markwayne Mullin was saying to his Congressional colleagues that he "understood" why someone attacked Rand Paul & gave him a brutal beating, he pretty clearly wasn't thinking "someday this guy could be the chairman of a Senate committee I have to appear before."

            He's not a clever dude & he's not familiar with the idea of "forethought".

                You don't want to hear the committee chairman say "roll the tape" at your Senate hearing. That's an indication things aren't going well.

                Though I do have to be clear that you can't assume one of Trump's acolytes is cooked until you see it with your own two eyes.

                I say Markwayne Mullin is a chump & doesn't stand a fucking chance, but this administration is a clown car full of chumps, so... 🤷‍♀️

                  @artemis i am a Kentuckian, and i am most definitely not a fan of Rand Paul. but i do give him more credit than the other ghouls in the GOP for actually having principles. however misguided they are, he typically adheres to them.

                  that's how low the bar is. you're the best of your bunch for {checks notes} actually believing in ANYTHING.

                    @peachfiend
                    I was just saying to my spouse how weird it is that this guy seems to think his Republican colleagues should have a sense of decency & stick to their stated principles. It's like he's mentally living in another world where "principled conservatism" isn't just a joke.

                    Because, yeah, he legit seems to believe most of what he says &—to his incredibly miniscule credit—does mostly seem to act in accordance with his stated principles.
