Personal note - my writing and reading are completely different
@screwturn I chose mostly different, but there’s overlap. I love writing epic fantasy but I don’t read many - I prefer fantasy like Pratchett. I read a huge amount of historical fiction but have never attempted writing one.
But I think it’s a benefit to read widely as it helps my writing regardless of the genre we decide to write in.
