๐ŸŒŽ Stanford University biologist Paul Ehrlich, died March 13,2026

"In his 2023 memoir, โ€œLife,โ€ Ehrlich expressed deep gratitude for a 70-year career in science. However, he was frustrated over what he saw as the inability of science to penetrate Americaโ€™s stubbornly unscientific political culture. He was also saddened that the environmental movement was failing to effectively oppose โ€œthe forces that pose existential threats to civilization.โ€ Throughout his career as a public scholar, Ehrlich was never afraid to look into the abyss."

Paul Ehrlich, often called alarmist for dire warnings about human harms to the Earth, believed scientists had a responsibility to speak out

Paul R. Ehrlich will be remembered as a scientist whose books about population and threats to the environment shaped the idea of limited growth in the modern era.

@SnowyCA Ehrlich also advocated for mass involuntary sterilization, and spent the second half of his career defending a book whose predictions were blatantly wrong
