    @ZachWeinersmith I'm Dutch, we switched from our old currency (the guilder) to the euro in January 2002, and I still see that as the new money.

        @ZachWeinersmith hmm, maybe less "when it came out" and more "when it became popular/I became aware of them" but what comes to mind are SATA SSDs and 1080p displays

          @ZachWeinersmith CFLs are "the new kind" of light bulb (as opposed to "normal" incandescent bulbs)

                @ZachWeinersmith

                I've got a couple of candidates:

                * the new Dutch spelling of 1995 that I still disagree with

                * Raider being renamed to Twix (1991?)

                * Dutch primary school being renamed from "lagere (lower) school" to "basisschool", merged with kindergarten, going from group 1 to 8 (ages 4 to 12) instead of class 1 to 6 (ages 6 to 12) before. 1986, when I went from class 5 to group 8.

                  @ZachWeinersmith Continuous welded railway tracks instead of the old clank-clank ones.

                    Yup - came here to say some music artists - Kate Bush in particular whose "new album" came out on 2005...

                      @ZachWeinersmith Any music released after 2002 (when I got hooked on blues & stopped listening to commercial radio) is "new music" for me, no matter how much I do the math to understand that for young adults today the White Stripes, Black Keys, and Nickelback are as old as 70s classic rock was for me then. (I assume Nickelback takes the role of The Eagles in love-to-hate territory.)
