Big melt down here too. Just snow piles and shady areas left.
Kinda looks like a Loon to me. Did you see it take off? They need a distinctive running start.

I don't think I've ever seen a loon around here, but it's possible -- lots of birds migrate through. I didn't see the running start. I think it was more swim faster, flap, flap, flap.
