So, I pay for an enhanced news feed so I can see a wide variety of content otherwise behind paywalls. This means that there is occasionally a story accidentally told via headlines. The publications did not intend to tell a story, and yet…

    Headlines:

Minimum wage lower than the cost of a gallon of gas in multiple markets

Large percentage of shoppers can not afford ground beef for Memorial Day cookout

SpaceX IPO on target to make Elon musk first trillionaire in history

US military forces snipers into retirement, to be replaced by drones and ai targeting

I mean, I’m no brilliant strategist, but starving the population, while rubbing their noses in the Gilded Age 2 Electric Boogaloo… and at the same time providing a well trained set of angry marksmen the incentive to train more marksman, in a country with more guns than people… it seems poorly planned, is my point.

The #EpsteinClass really seems to think they are immortal. Bold move.

      seems fine 😅

      🥸😈

also if the US military fires a bunch of people who are deadly consistent and reliable, id like to hire them to work for our shop 😆

Why do you think they're investing so much in humanoid robots?

@MissConstrue I think they are betting on the fact that US special forces are mostly reactionaries, more likely to kill those they see as beneath them than their capitalist overlords.

@elexia I dunno about that. I’ve been shooting with special forces guys since I was a kid. They range in age from Vietnam Seal to Millennial, and the olds ones have been friends with me for all this time. I have always been a black clad tattooed troublemaker. I just also happen to be a marksman. (Was, I dont practice enough to qualify now.)

I have a transdaughter. She grew up around these folks, and when she transistioned, they were the very first to step up and say that if anyone gave her shit, they had her back. And now two of the gunnery sgts are running free gun safety classes for transpeople.

Point is, yes, special forces is plagued by hegseths and wannabes, but there is a larger contingent of not weirdos who were deeply indoctrinated by the American Dream tm. (Hegseth couldn’t have made it into special forces, he’s too crazy…and that’s saying a thing.)

@MissConstrue Hegseth (and a lot of the current administration) seems like the kind that both fetishizes the military for the worst possible reasons (not that there's necessarily a good reason to do it, but ya know) and also looks down on the real people that make it up. people like that do not join the military or don't make it very long.

@MissConstrue to be clear, fetishizing the military isn't exactly a hindrance. those types totally join the military all the time. but you absolutely cannot show disdain for everyone around you in what is essentially a cult that requires you to fit in by any means necessary.

@elexia people like Hegseth should never be allowed to join even the reserves, which was the only branch that would take him. (Maybe national guard, I forget). His tattoos alone would have disqualified him from many branches.
