@Peter_Link I completely agree with this post.
In pro-Ukraine blogger circles, I see champagne being popped. Although what is being done to Iran is politically near-identical to what Russia wants to do to Ukraine.
People justify the outcomes they always wanted to happen with words, instead of using words to build favorable outcomes over time.
@gimulnautti @Peter_Link The ukrainians are popping champagne because Iranian drones are killing ukrainians everyday.
probably less to do with global politics and and theory and more to do with celebrating a looming Russian arms shortage= saving ukrainian lives.

@gimulnautti @Peter_Link Ukraine has never attacked anyone unlike Iran. I think it is ok to be pleased for my Iranian friends who have been exiled these many years and to celebrate the deaths of cruel monsters, the full extent of whose abominable crimes against humanity we can only guess at. We can still decry and oppose the illegal manner of its execution (fnau). It's not inconsistent at all in my view.

@nf3xn
Does Iran deserve what's happening to it now? -

@F100 @Peter_Link No. Some pro-Ukraine bloggers are specifically saying that it’s because ”bad man is dead” and ”he deserved it”.
Of course most pro-Ukraine bloggers are right-wingers, and a common basis of right-wing action is to justify events their in-group desires with rhetoric, instead of building desired outcomes for everyone through logic.
I’m not disillusioned that this is the case. This is how most people experience the world.

I don't understand how anyone can celebrate the killing of one autocratic despot by a different autocratic despot …

I think that is a bit much. Gore, porn, profanity, violence, etc. I can understand. But simply being from FB, no.

@gimulnautti @Peter_Link
you're not disillusioned, just delusional. Probably a pro-Russian, pro-Palestinian, now pro-Iranian Shiite dictature leftist, spreading your insidious propaganda. Oh, I understand, Hamas and Hezbollah are pro-Iranian proxies

@VoxClamans @Peter_Link @F100 @nf3xn Of course I am. Just take at look at me in Ukraine, delivering trucks for the Ukrainian military in the photo.
We cheer for fucking idiots telling us:
”LOOK AT ME I KILLED BAD GUY!!”
”OH YOU NOT CHEERING FOR ME? YOU MUST BE BAD GUY!”This age of stupidity fucking disgusts me.
