@hacks4pancakes I was going to joke about fluoride in our water but a quick Google _might_ suggest there's something there lol
@xssfox both countries fluoridate (at least until RFK bans it) and my teeth thank them

I have Questions.
@hacks4pancakes it's the footy

@hacks4pancakes Like what unlisted superfund site were you living on before; damn. Very glad it improved but that's kinda a huge change.
@d_rift to be fair hyperthyroidism can resolve itself it’s not a medical miracle. But it was a ten year sticky battle for me

That's awesome - maybe less stress helped?

@mike @mwl @hacks4pancakes There was a really interesting reddit thread awhile back where a German couple tried to determine why they always got incredible flatulence when visiting in-laws. IIRC, they eventually concluded that the water interacted weirdly with their gut flora! But they tested a TON of different ideas.
There was a whole plot twist where they thought it didn't affect their kids... but the kids were just staying quiet while the parents debated it on the multi-hour drive home

@gusseting I’ve been battling hashimotos for ten years. I almost died.
@hacks4pancakes That's awesome! Two of my closest friends are suffering with Hashimotos. If you don't mind me asking, what do you think has made the biggest difference for you?

@hacks4pancakes congrats! Where were you before?

@hacks4pancakes @gusseting less stress, better food?
fyi: Australia = highest concentration of profit driven agriculture in the world, starting with Gina Rinehart, which means massive power to lobbyists funded through cattle sales. We have 26 million cattle for a population of 22 million. We supply meat to the USA.
A previous CEO of AA&Co is now running for parliament with One Nation

@hacks4pancakes I guess if your immune system can decide to attack your thyroid tissue for no reason, it can decide to stop

@darwinwoodka fuck if I know. I was sick for a decade
@hacks4pancakes @darwinwoodka It’s starting to sound like your body reacting to getting away from over processed foods with high chemical concentrations.
Aussie tucker is far more natural and nutritious in nature, or so I am told.
I know I always survive my visits there 🫡 -
@hacks4pancakes I find travel ridiculously stressful, but every time I go to Europe my high blood pressure resolves itself within days.
I also have Questions.
@mwl @hacks4pancakes honestly I can completely stop taking my insulin and control my blood glucose with diet and exercise when I leave the US, NBDJS.

I have Questions.
@hacks4pancakes europe has such better produce, meat, dairy, and flour that we straight up order bulk butter and flour from eu importers

@hacks4pancakes My wife had a similar experience with chronic inflammation and joint pain diminishing every time she goes to Europe (Spain/Germany) for work (about 10-14 day average trip length)

Reminds me of when I lived in mountain view, CA. After a bit of living there, my gut was EXTREMELY unhappy. I started to binary search my diet. Lo and behold, I started running all of my water in my apartment (yes, even cooking water) through a filter and I was cured. It didn't affect my apartment-mates or friends, just me. So weird. I had confirmation when I accidentally drank tap water at a friend's place and the symptoms came back.
Something in the water out there just hit me wrong.

@hacks4pancakes Congrats! Was it something your doctor is AUS did, or did it resolve on its own after you moved? Know some other people with thyroid issues
