    @tootbrute @alternativeto the funny part is that they also do AI, maybe it's less intrusive ?

      @licho @trya2l @tootbrute @alternativeto They had to backpedal faster than a bullet train, and I guess they’re now getting the message. But are their investors getting the message? Investors are the dumbest people you can meet, they’re all “Here money, give back more”, and just follow trends if they think that’ll give them more money. AI = money for them now, so they want AI everywhere. And companies obey investors, not customers. We’ll see…

        @celinho @trya2l @alternativeto Brave is owned and founded by an homophobic cryptofascist (we could say that of any rich guy really lol) who's friend with Peter Thiel. On top of that, Brave is not even that good when it comes to privacy.

        @Supersatan @celinho @trya2l @alternativeto ah yes but it's MARKETED as being good for privacy, and isn't that what's really important? If you're SEEN to have good privacy, no-one will try to hack you! QED!

            @celinho @alternativeto no search engine is reliable anymore. At least we can chose one where there isn't any of this AI crap.

            @orange_lux @celinho @alternativeto DDG has it's own set of problems; they censors search results esp relate to #news and outside #usa and #europe it's search results go meh in many parts of #asia !

            completely irrelevant BS until you started putting down very very specific instructions 😒

                @celinho @orange_lux @alternativeto Hey ! Hey ! I did not say that 😵‍💫 basically when you talk to people around the world from different countries you will say how many parts of the world-wide-web don't cater to many parts of #asia and #africa ... many of those places have their own local search engines, websites are far more helpful ! Apart from Google, Bing etc. and other giants who throw a lot of slop at you and there's always some good stuff in there ! Though #AI is making it worse

                  @harib_murshidi @orange_lux @alternativeto I live in Brazil and do not like censorship, people have to be free to research in all media and do their analysis on their own. I used DuckDuckGo and I would never use it again. I have been using Brave Search for many years. We have to look at the facts, regardless of whether it is open source if it has censorship, it has a political bias.

                    @alternativeto Va falloir que je passe d'une version à l'autre : No-AI quand je cherche des infos… avec AI lorsque je vérifie certaines productions que j'ai commandité!

                      @geonz @alternativeto

                      Main issue with DDG (besides using AI by default) is that their shop search is completely useless, it's literally all Temu.

                      Still using it over google but hoping for a better alternative to come along. Qwant seems ok but haven't used it enough to know if there are problems.

                        @celinho @alternativeto neither is google, so it's kinda the same. but tbf if you really need to use google you can append "!g" at the end of your search in ddg and no AI ddg and it takes you to google

                            @celinho @alternativeto dunno, i just know it's an option you have in ddg.
                            edit: actually apparently you can also use !b for bing
                            edit 2: and !y for yahoo
                            edit 3: i also tried !yt for youtube and !h for hoogle (a search engine for haskell) and that last one has me flabbergasted. im starting to consider the fact that the search engines it uses might be personalized
                            edit 4: apparently its not personalized, it just knows to use hoogle
