I am so sick of this shit
I suppose I might as well ask, this is part of an email that Google sent me informing me that “[I’m] now using Gemini on [my] Apple device”, and I would like to know *where* I am doing that so I can shut that shit off, I definitely did not enable it on purpose

@VW_Guy Apple Intelligence is off on all my devices, so I don't think that's it.

I am so sick of this shit
@glyph I literally got this message the other day when I told it to set a reminder to take my medicine.

“Don’t rely on responses from Gemini Apps for diagnosis, treatment, or medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Its output is for informational purposes only.”
motherfucker what do you think “information” is
@glyph THAT'S the issue though, it's not a replacement for human judgment or professional foresight or insight!!
That's not what it was designed for.

@glyph Could this be the thing where chrome downloads a 4GB local model unless you use an option in settings://system to disable it? I found it had automatically turned on for me on MacOS whateverI’musing.

I mean, maybe that's better than copilot being only for entertainment purposes? -

@glyph note that „information” can be true or not. Yes, Gemini is informational - can give you some information. And the quote says it’s not a reliable source of information - so the information will or will not be true.

@glyph @tortuguita Do you have Waze? It's great - even informs about radars and police.
-
@glyph the copilot terms of service literally say it's for entertainment purposes only https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-copilot/for-individuals/termsofuse
"Copilot is for entertainment purposes only. It can make mistakes, and it may not work as intended. Don’t rely on Copilot for important advice. Use Copilot at your own risk."
Which is more honest than "informational purposes only" but just makes the fact that people trust it even more depressing
