Dune sicko on main kind of day
-
I’ve said this here before but I was so scared it was going to be horrible until I watched that first trailer and saw the headboard of Paul’s bed was exactly as described in the books, if someone was going to have that level of attention to detail I knew I’d love it. Also seeing the ornithopters in the trailer completely took me out, that design is so good
@checkervest seeing the ornithopters at the drive-in is I think the point where I looked at wicche and said, "This movie rules."
-
@sidd_harth0_5h4h in 1! It’s what made me realize it was in good hands
The trailer for 3 looks incredible too
-
@checkervest i need to speak with the head theatre catagers

@sidd_harth0_5h4h ripple and her new favorite toy say hi
-
@checkervest did you see the video on how they made the ornithopter sound itself because they were so against making it sound like a helicopter?
@radicalrobit yesssss it’s so good, I love the sound design on this movie so much

@infernusgoatus right?? They’re perfect
-

-
@checkervest where the others?

-
@checkervest pen okay with strangers?

-
Dune sicko who read the book at least once a year since I was 11 or 12, watching the gom jabbar scene:

Thinking about the portrait and the bull

-
@checkervest pen okay with strangers?

@sidd_harth0_5h4h he’s okay with my brother and my mom, he warms up to my nephew, he is terrified of anyone new

@checkervest i still have yet to read the books so i am very excited to learn it's that faithful, wow :0 i like an adaptation that reimagines/reworks stuff but an adaptation that just loves the source material so much is sooooooo good

@raspberry there is definitely some reworking here with some characters (which works really well in my opinion!) but Denis has said that he’s been obsessed with this book since he was 15 and spent years thinking about how he’d do it and made two movies with the express purpose of learning how to make Dune and I think he did an incredible job, the love shines through at every moment

Thinking about the portrait and the bull

It is absolutely the funniest thing imaginable that Frank Herbert wrote a book about how you should never trust charismatic messianic leaders and how people like Paul are the bad guys and the hero’s journey is bullshit and he got so incensed when everyone said “wow! Paul!! What a great hero!!” that he immediately wrote a second book calling them all dumbasses

@checkervest it's incredible. like Herbert name drops Hitler in the second book and people were STILL fawning over Paul

@balrogboogie one of my favorite critiques of the second movie was how Paul had a heel turn “out of nowhere,” I saw a bunch where they were mad that Denis “ruined” the character by making him a bad guy, as if the seeds of that weren’t established in the first one

@checkervest @balrogboogie I feel like a lot of cinema goers will be in for a shock in Messiah. Either that, or by sheer force of will they'll miss the point completely. Villeneuve is said to love the books so I'm reasonably confident he'll do a fair adaptation.

@cherizilla @balrogboogie I saw reviews of 2 that said that Feyd was the hero lmao I have no faith in cinema goers
