Me: Personally, I would love it… to experience it. But is it worth the expense?

@EdwinG Would not qualify. Montréal renegged on the very promises for which it was awarded the 1976 olympics; build permament sporting facilities.
-Destroyed Vélodrome
-Tried to destroy the pools.
-Refused to build the gyms and other sports facilities for which space in the tower was designed.
-The stadium itself no longer usable for Olympics (needs to be open air, but stadium now has permanent roof, and concrete slab for floor instead of natural grass. (so they could do trade shows). -

The current rules prefer reusing the existing installations. Also, Paris 2024 didn’t have an Olympic Stadium

@EdwinG Montréal also lacks airport capacity with destruction of Mirabel. Lost a lot hotel capacity since Olympics (Laurentian (René Lévesque/Peel), Hotel Mont Royal (now Cours Mont Royal) , Hotel Windsor (now offices witha few meeting rooms). (all on Peel ironically).
Laurentien was slated for destruction but Mayor intervened to delaye it so that it woudl have enough capacity.
IF they don't destroy it, the old Radio Canada complex could be used as the international broadcas centre.

@EdwinG Paris has multiple large stadiums to host events (Rolland Garos for Tennis, State de France,

@EdwinG Not saying it isn't doable. But As we didn't preserve the infrasructure, it would cost a lot to build much new infrastructure to host games.

@jfmezei The CBC tower is no longer usable. It’s been gutted on the inside to convert into housing IIRC.
I’m not worried about hotel or airport capacity. We already host the Canadian Grand Prix (pl.), one of which received 350,000 visitors last year over 3 days - limited by the F1 track’s hosting capacity.
Looking at Milano-Cortina, it doesn’t seem like broadcasters need as much on-site personnel as it was the case in the 2010s. CBC has really a skeleton staff there and most is done from TO
