@workchronicles I do this at work all the time. On Monday I was relaxing in a coffee shop for a while doing no work. Came back to my desk a while later and hit flow state, smashed the problem.

A huge chunk of my work is getting my brain to the state where I can quickly solve a problem. Time spent not working is literally some of the most valuable for solving a problem.

@workchronicles I prefer taking a shower instead of a walk. Which is also why I have a whiteboard in my bathroom.

@Flamekebab @workchronicles In my experience, both parts of the process are needed. You sit, and think about the thing, turn it over in your mind, predigest it, in a way, then go out and give your back-brain a chance to process it without you.

@maccruiskeen I was thinking more about when my brain is tired from a previous problem and I know I've got another one to tackle. I could sit at my desk getting more tired and frustrated or I could do something that gets me back to a good state.

On Monday it was rewriting MP4 boxes with dynamic values based on various inputs. I needed a bit of a mental run up, so to speak!
