Help needed: my user home uses 12GB of space. Still #macOS Tahoe reports that my Mac Mini 256GB is out of space.
Obviously #macOS Tahoe shits its pants and doesn't work when low on space.
Space Gremlin Pro reports 200GB Restricted Files. No idea what that' is but that's pretty close to the vanished space.

@al3x Annoyingly, macOS shitting its pants when low on storage is not new to Tahoe.
From what I can see, you should be able to activate “Admin mode” in Space Gremlin Pro (assuming its not the App Store version)
Edit Sorry I was wrong, it looks like you have to start the app as root https://www.spacegremlinapp.com/mac/faq.html#:~:text=in%20any%20mode.-,How%20do%20I%20scan%20Restricted%20Space%3F,-Scanning%20Restricted%20Space

@al3x Very odd…
Might be worth trying out DaisyDisk. I’ve used it for years and never had any issue with it not being able to see restricted files. Might be worth checkout out the trial just to see if it works for you.
Other than that, I am at a loss. I’ve never seen those files take up 200GB before.

@WestFox35 @ghalldev Have any specific recommendation? I'm not familiar with what might be good options

. I don't have words to express how frustrated I feel. It is not my fault in any way that Apple sells Mac Minis with 265GB hard drives and with only 20GB user homes they stop working.
