Framework listens to their audience so much that they send another pre-release laptop to DHH.

@Foxboron @soapdog @komali_2 @smilingdemon @alatiera They gave 24,000€ to DHH's Ruby World. There is not attempt to be better on their part.
@reflex @Foxboron @soapdog @smilingdemon @alatiera Do you mean railsworld? They got a booth, and it's a conference sponsorship, not a donation - they get advertising in return. They went to other conferences as well, and spent more on them.
DHH gets no income from railsworld.

@komali_2 @Foxboron @soapdog @smilingdemon @alatiera Rails World was literally created to undermine the existing Rails conference after they enforced their CoC policy and it excluded DHH. He created this one explicitly to take back control.
Framework supported that effort explicitly, and were one of the largest donors. They are VERY committed to keeping Nazis in control of technology.

@reflex
To my knowledge that was disclosed as part of the original thread? So I don't quite see how it's relevant to my current statement? -

@reflex @Foxboron @soapdog @smilingdemon @alatiera Yes, that sucks, and yet now rails world has a CoC and is the only rails conference.
I've not seen anything indicating framework had anything to do with the downfall of railsconf, and while it sucks that DHH seems to latch himself on like a disgusting racist little leech to everything, for rails people, railsworld is all that's left

Better would be publicly announcing an end to the partnership, a review program to ensure they do not back terrible people going forward, and the CEO stepping down.

Sure, but you are referencing a sponsorship from last year?

@komali_2 @Foxboron @soapdog @smilingdemon @alatiera Rails World does not exclude DHH, thus it's CoC is meaningless and his goals were achieved. With the help of Framework.

@Foxboron And? I don't see your point. You made an assertion things had improved. What evidence have you provided? All evidence shows no change.

I've pointed out that they have not disproportionally promoted Omarchy compared to other projects since the forum thread.
From what I've seen there hasn't been an mention at all, and they where left out of all marketing and conference speeches from what I've gathered.I think this is an improvement?

@Foxboron Cool, so only mildly promoting nazis is an improvement in your world. Got it.
You can go away now.

@reflex @Foxboron @soapdog @smilingdemon @alatiera Eh, well, hard to avoid PoS like DHH in FOSS world. Baby, bathwater, etc.
I believe good actors are held to higher standards than bad ones (the other manufacturers), which creates selection pressure against being good. So I balance the good framework does and find it to be a good buy.
I understand that some people aren't down for that, I'm not sure what kind of laptop you use but I'm glad you found one that matches your values.

Enjoy the new Nazibook 13 pro.
@alatiera i'm kinda surprised that project is still going and he hasn't moved on to idk, omgentooey or something
but i guess free hardware is a good reason to keep it going lol

@soapdog @Foxboron @smilingdemon @alatiera
Again, I hope they don't send him another one, but my point is, we would probably still be having this conversation if they hadn't, we'd simply be discussing either hyprland or openbsd.
@komali_2 @soapdog @Foxboron @smilingdemon @alatiera
Good ! That is one step, it's progress and is valued. This is the kind of steps that builds a better world. The road is long, you can't teleport there, so you have to start somewhere.
Something more important to consider is that the projects in question are moving. If there is enough pressure, they can move in the right direction as well, and not be under consideration. -

@komali_2 @soapdog @Foxboron @smilingdemon @alatiera I honestly had assume that they wouldn't send him another one atleast... Yet they just proved that wrong

@alatiera If it weren't for their active politics I would be looking at this in all seriousness (I bought a FW13 before we knew, thankfully on an "it'll do for a good few years even if I don't get a CPU upgrade out of it" basis). Like, it does both the major things I wanted improved and I suspect has been engineered to allow further work on the original's RAM and SSD cooling problems.
Long live the competition, I guess.

Plus their upstream Linux work and donations to various distros and WMs
