    WHO has declared the #Ebola outbreak in DRC and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
    First time this has been done without consulting an emergency committee.
    Extraordinary move that speaks to how concerning the facts on the ground look right now.

      There’s the sheer number of suspected cases in the Ituri Province in DRC which is already well above 200 with 80 deaths, the high number of positive cases in tested samples (at least 8 out of 13), the fact that health care workers have been affected and now a confirmed case in Kinshasa.

        „In addition, two laboratory confirmed cases (including one death) with no apparent link to each other have been reported in Kampala, Uganda, within 24 hours of each other, on 15 and 16 May 2026, among two individuals travelling from the Democratic Republic of the Congo“

          @kakape

          Absolutely terrible, and too few political "leaders" care.
