@nixCraft I think the effect you are describing has more to do with the state of the BBC than the state of the world. They make more money making people scared and depressed than happy.

Everything's gone to shit. I don't follow news closely anymore, aside from tech news, and the bullshit has infiltrated that also.
I feel like I'm under constant assault by mediocrity and malfeasance.

@nixCraft TBH I suspect it's not true that this decade is special. Each day in every decade something bad was happening. IMHO the difference might be that media learned to make people anxious to keep them in front of the screen for longer (and see more ads)
