Note that though it never stoop to the level of Game of Throne's ending, the quality still varies and the last seasons certainly could have been much better.
Which is very sad considering the quality of the actors.

@sarahtaber my only advice is watch it OR read it. The books and show started diverging to the point that I didn't understand the characters' motivation because I was pulling the wrong antecedents.

@PizzaDemon @sarahtaber I'd say that was very much a subjective thing. I've watched them all more than once and read all of the books, and loved both experiences. No issues separating the two, which do vary. Sometimes a lot.

I always viewed it as being able to pick the element you liked best. Like in the books, Ashford is basically an unlikable one-dimensional character. In the tv show he get way more time and development, and a great actor, and is a beloved character.
