    Well, this is awkward.

'Minnesota officials are touting a recently released review of billing across the state’s social services as a key step in identifying — and improving — the systems that facilitated widespread fraud.

'But the long-awaited third-party audit was heavily censored by the Department of Human Services, and officials have refused to share an unredacted version with lawmakers as they enter a legislative session that promises to focus on the embattled agency’s struggle with fraud.'

Minnesota released a report about social services fraud. Most of it is blacked out.

@rationaldoge Difficult situation because Trump has already politicized it, but if there is fraud in MN Human Svcs it’s still in everyone’s interest to understand and fix it.

There’s an argument to outsource social services to for-profit companies. Maybe makes sense and sometimes doesn’t. I grew up in a marginalized community in Philadelphia (Germantown) where similar things happened. If a privately held company fails audits that’s a red flag to go fix things rather than keep feeding money.

@rationaldoge And you have to put things in perspective. The Trump family has taken bribes and looted our government to the tune of single digit billions of dollars. So you can see why they’re pointing fingers. But keep some perspective and a sense of proportion. If this is in fact fraud it’s more like 1/5 billion dollars.

If you actually do the math the cost of white collar crime in US dwarfs petty crime supposedly committed by immigrants and minorities.
