      @PhilipCJames @Pamela1960 @wood5y @UkeleleEric It's wild that public transport in the UK is so expensive. It's meant to be for the *public* FFS, and it should be *encouraged*.

      Public transport here (regional Australia) isn't always great, but it's usable, and super affordable. Town buses in regional QLD are 50 cents a trip, or $5 unlimited travel for a week. Down in Brissie, the trains and ferries are also covered by the 50 cent fares. It makes sense. NSW doesn't have flat fares but the fare caps are low, and off peak you can go all the way from Nowra to Newcastle (320km) for something like $7.50. It'll take all day, given how slow our trains are, but much like saffron or diamonds, it's cheaper than petrol...

        @syulang @PhilipCJames @wood5y @UkeleleEric
        But years of petroleum influenced government policy has said that it should profit international conglomerates.
        It's not public infrastructure for people to be able to efficiently travel to work, let alone have 😱 fun at the weekend.

        The corporate lobbyists & right-wing think-tanks surely couldn't be wrong🥴

            @syulang @PhilipCJames @wood5y @UkeleleEric yep small, unkind, selfish, anti-social ones that it should learn to regulate 😉
