      rofl, and it gets worse.

      Plan prices aren't changing.

nah, they're just drastically reducing what you get for the same price because this crap isn't profitable.

@drikanis they're increasing costs 6fold. You get less than with a chatgpt plus subscription.
        Complete scam.
And they left out gpt-5.5 pricing, which is currently a shockscamming x7.5 multiplyer. gpt-5.4 and token-efficient gpt-5.3 will both be x6, which resulsts in 250 requests for $39 per month for not current or rather outdated models.
        Complete scam.
And they're keeping silent about how many credits one will get.
Also they say "you can't have usage-based pricing with a yearly subscription, you have to end your subscription or suffer ludicrous price hikes or you can cancel and get a refund for the rest of what you paid, but since you're an individual, you can't re-subscribe" however they leave that part out, they ended subscriptions for individuals.

So they want companies only, which previously had a 1000 messages per month limit for $39, where individuals had 1500 messages per month.

I'll end my yearly subscription of course.

And how is to blame for this increase?
Many reasons, 1 is Trumps insanity and warmongering leading to increased energy costs. If the USA were like China with over 95% going into renewables, like solar and wind, they would not be affected.

Like this it's elitism and Microslop's embrace extend exterminate motto.

On the positive side, AI might unity humanity in hate against machines

@techidon honestly, I think all we're seeing is prices getting closer to their actual monetary costs after years of operating at a loss. the tech itself is so absurdly inefficient that nobody would have bought it if it wasn't heavily subsidized by investment capital. now they're scrambling to exploit their captive user base to stop hemorrhaging money.

i wouldn't be surprised if the other major players followed suit with price increases.
