Got this email pointing me to a story about a "successful indie author" who "manages to balance a full-time job, motherhood, and writing."

I'm sorry, but my minimum criteria for "successful author" means not having to hold down another job to support your writing. Otherwise, it's just "successfully published a book," which is indeed a form of success, but a much lower bar. That's more like "satisfied indie author."

There's nothing wrong with being a satisfied author. Hell, that's *my* primary goal. But successful implies (to me at least) that it's a full time gig that's paying the bills.
