    @Wyatt_H_Knott @hacks4pancakes What pisses me off even more is that Sen Sheehy stepped in “to assist” and broke the Marine’s hand. That guy should just try to avoid shooting his own dick off. His actions here make Sheehy an #enemyofthepeople

    @lawyersgunsnmoney Do you think McGinnis has a case against Sheehy for damages? Sure McGinnis was breaking some rules with what he was doing, and the officials who tried to remove him are probably protected because of that, but Sheehy never had the remit to step in. @Wyatt_H_Knott @hacks4pancakes

      @tuban_muzuru @Wyatt_H_Knott @hacks4pancakes I don’t agree for a variety of reasons. Then again, I didn’t think Germany should have been reunified - just pastures, cows, horses and sheep.

      The USA would be better served to revise our form of government, for it's the USA with the problem.

        @tokyo_0 @Wyatt_H_Knott @hacks4pancakes Hi, I think he has a
        Civil case. IMO McGinnis isn’t going to get District of Columbia prosecutors or MPD. Sen Sheehy does not have the immunity from prosecution that the officers do. No question there was a battery and I think McGinnis can easily prove a tort claim

          @Wyatt_H_Knott @lawyersgunsnmoney @hacks4pancakes A professional standing army creates a culture that worships its own raw power. Democracy and rule of law are inconvenient accidents of history to such a mindset.

          This is also why some leaders have proposed mandatory service for young adults. The idea is to dilute or counteract the power worship, and to spread the military know-how among all demographics.

          @tasket @Wyatt_H_Knott @hacks4pancakes Countries tend to attack each other for land, resources, hubris so I think we need one. Civilian control of the military is IMO what we did to prevent junta’s. We elected a junta, so there is the failure.
          I am in favor of universal service as you suggested but if there is anything that would galvanize opposition to the war, re-instituting the draft would be it. Some friends’ Dad’s were killed in Vietnam….

            Imho the fascisme is fuelled by fear of people for their livelihood. As long as that continues, fascisme will thrive.

            Again imho, what we should do and can (try to) do is to reinstiute faith by reviving the real economy with tools like timebanks.
