I’m surprisingly completely and entirely calm. No racing heart, no anger, no anxiety. I wonder if I’m relieved to no longer be trapped in his care where he was refusing me a second opinion for years? Part of me is also resigned to never getting proper care, so that exists too.

I’m not familiar with the Canadian system but here in the US unfortunately I am familiar with filing formal complaints with state-level certifying boards, which they are required to investigate. Sometimes the boards actually fulfill their duties; other times not. But filing a complaint is much less of a lift than a lawsuit (not that when you’re dealing with malpractice you have ANY energy or capacity for ANYTHING “extra”).

@britt That makes sense to feel a kind of calmness and clarity about how you’ve been feeling and about the outcome. Like a confirmation that you experienced a kind of abuse that you knew you were experiencing and now the abuser is trying to hide because you put a light on the truth.
