How firm is the rule about not wearing white after Labor Day/Before Memorial Day?

I’m asking because I want to wear a dress colored like ranch dressing so you won’t be able to see the stains when I spill it on myself, but I’m not sure if it's a fashion faux pas.

I’m also curious if my ranch dressing colored dress will be okay to wear as a wedding guest because I know you're not supposed to wear white but this will also have some little specks of green in it so does that make it okay?

Sorry for all of the questions, but I really don’t want to offend the bride because the last time that happened, the bride yanked off my veil and it almost ripped out one of my hair extensions.
