I'm rebuilding the Pixelfed mobile app from scratch to leverage a cleaner and more maintainable UI, using native UI components on Android and iOS.
This isn't only about performance, making the app less complex and easier to use and with improved caching and backend error handling will drastically improve the UX.
Not to mention the ability to join or login with a single tap using Sign in with Apple or Google

You're going to love it

@dansup please reconsider the Google/Apple sign-in. It results in a vendor lock-in and gives these companies the power over the user's account. The consequence is that users lose all access when Big Corp (or their jurisdiction) arbitrarily decides to lock their account. There are countless examples of Google, Apple, and the Trump administration doing this and effectively locking people out of their digital lives.

@jomo I think you have this confused with OAuth, you will use your own email for this, and can bypass with an email/password

@dansup thatβs brilliant! Any chance we could contribute in the actual development? Maybe work on a few git issues?

@dansup Nice. But please leave out the login with Apple or Google. We need to get rid of them.
