From what you can already see, it's a part of Mastodon, a federated social network. And by federated it means, a cluster of other social networks - all coming together to form a HUGE community.

I knew about Mastodon back in late 2022, but I didn't tinker much with the platform back then which made me delete my account there.
My first account was on mstdn.party, which is a pretty cool server if you ask me.
t still didn't occur to me that I should create a community, or in Mastodon terms, an instance where all Bengalis and Bengali-speaking people can come together to freely talk on a platform that isn't owned by some foreign corporation. (I'm looking at you, Facebook)

I rejoin Mastodon in late 2025, precisely October 11 and I still have that account. It's @kq if you were curious.
I try to find for Bengali accounts, or a presence of some sort, but all I find is dead accounts and accounts that aren't fathered any longer.
I decide to give up my search for looking for Bengali people and just blend in with the international community as a Bangladeshi who happens to have access to the internet.

Early this year, February - I notice that there really isn't a instance where Bangladeshis or even Bengalis hang out in the Fediverse.
Why not create my own?
There was the clear problem of funding and actually setting up an instance from scratch, but I decided to solo this one out and thought to myself, "Why not do this for the love of the game?"

I do not profit from this, as one might counterintuitively think, and it's only possible with financial contributions that I make from my own wallet!
This is a community funded project, and even a small monthly contribution, or even one-off, is really beneficial for ensuring that @pitha is free forever.
Free as in, freedom of speech, no megacorp taking over this, and fully ad-free.
Your data isn't sold, and you sustain a community that actually cares about a space for discourse.
