Argh.. past month our total server bill was almost €200 higher then usual so I extensively compared the last two invoices but couldn’t find any changes in servers, volumes or whatever so I opened a ticket at Hetzner

@hetzner I am extremely thankful for the one time sponsorship but with the new price increase it’s adding roughly €2400 to our bills on a yearly basis
Is there room to talk about this or is it set in stone? We’re trying to offer a better solution to the big tech web but it’s getting harder and harder this way

Just got a reply that it’s because of “the price change that took effect in April, which we announced to you during the week of February 22–27.”
So it’s permanent
The one time sponsorship is awesome but this.. So heads up for people who host at Hetzner

@stux Yeah the local 'center that hosted stuff for work doubled the price just because they could this year >_<

@stux Yeah, big bump in prices for compute this year. Blame the AI guys buying up all the hardware I guess.
The price bumps still leave Hetzner about the best value around though I think.
Shame they aren't an ongoing sponsor though, that's what I assumed when they said they'd contribute. Some value of compute to spend each month.

@stux Wow, that's quite a big increase. I guess this is the new normal considering computer part prices have been skyrocketing in recent months 🥲
