    I had a GP/PCP appt yesterday. Being an AuDHDer, I had carefully scripted the entire visit over the course of a week, with a written agenda. I thought I had anticipated all directions it could go, and that it was going to be a short visit.

    What I did not count on was the thoroughness of the medical assistant, and the approach of the physician. For the latter, he took on the role of a village elder, slowly and carefully imparting his reasoning and diagnosis background information. I learned a lot, but it changed my anticipated 15 min appt to an hour-long visit, and I didn't get an important referral.

    Nice aspect of this experience is that I now have new considerations to anticipate when scripting visits in the future. Chances to grow are wonderful! πŸ˜€

      @AncTreat5358
      Hey Will, yea, I find that difficult. They know how these appts work in practice. We could prepare in advance properly if they just told us what to expect. They don't consider patient support needs.

      A few years ago GP kept booking repeat appts, 90+ mins rather than 15. No idea why. He didn't tell me why he wanted me to keep returning so often, nor what he was trying to achieve with such long appts. I was there 5-7pm. I struggled for months afterwards.

      Look after yourself. πŸ™‚

        @AlexLloyd Thanks for sharing this! And wow, regular 90 minute visits sound brutal, especially if there's not a specific reason. I totally hear you that it can be an overwhelming experience that can drain you for days after.
