I’ve voted Green many times.

What unctions does Feyerabend seek when ill and all that.
(TBF, though, I also have a Cambridge natsci degree, and unless you take the HPS option (which I didn't), it tells you next to nothing about the scientific method.)

I’ve voted Green many times.
I voted Green last week.But the Green Party of England and Wales does nothing at my local level to win my vote.
And its main presence here is a bot that treats Mastodon users as passive recipients of snippets of conversations going on elsewhere.
I understand why, but I don’t like it.
I am however grateful to the few UK Green reps who have chosen to actually be here
@urlyman in the US the green party only exists for 20 minutes every for years. They show up to run for president them slide back into their masturbatory hole.
Want my vote? Prove you exist in my state or better yet my community. Prove you have a coalition of support to get something done.

@Pamela1960 Thanks Pam. Did you register that in this poll? https://mastodon.social/@urlyman/116572191163542895

…Have you *ever* voted for the Green Party of England and Wales?
You can vote ‘No’ if you like but I’m only interested in the extent of the ‘Yes’.
Please boost for reach. Poll runs for 1 week.
@urlyman [Yes] Twice in ~20 years.
✘ 2000s Local Election: Low-stakes and "try for heart over tactics", I thought, didn't win the Green but got Lib Dem, my usual pick and also the tactical choice in the two-way split Lib Dem−Conservative (but usually LD) ward.
2019 European Parliament Election: I won my Green MEP, reckoning the D'Hondt method to be up to the task.All other elections under FPTP, I've gone tactical. Won 14/22 at Local (4 "losses" may count as half-wins), and 3/6 at GE.

@bebadefabo I’m vaguely aware that the US Green Party has all kinds of issues. I hope the US comes to its senses some time. I feel for all those who are having to tread water in deep shit in the meantime.
Edit: In saying that, I’m not saying Green Parties around the world (UK included) have got it all figured. They haven’t. But in the UK at least they’re trying to take thermodynamics more seriously than anyone else chasing my vote

@urlyman Our local Green candidate has said that he doesn't believe in the scientific method. Not a terribly bright thing to say to one of his potential voters who happened to be a NatSci student.
@TimWardCam @urlyman
That should be automatic disqualification for any Green candidate. The last thing the Greens need is an influx of evidence-deniers. -

“Explain the scientific method” should be a standard question at all candidate selection interviews! -

“Explain the scientific method” should be a standard question at all candidate selection interviews!@KimSJ @urlyman Wasn't asked in any of my vetting sessions!
One "feature" of #Cambridge is that whatever you decide, as an amateur volunteer (ie councillor), there will be amongst your constituents a world class expert on the subject who will tell you what you've got wrong.

@electropict Thanks. I was quickly scanning the list at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Green_Party_of_England_and_Wales_MPs_and_peers#House_of_Lords and not reading into it carefully enough. Post above corrected.

…The @thegreenparty itself is only ‘here’ via a federated Threads account.
@PortsmouthGreens were here at least occasionally until last year and now aren’t.
I know of one Green Councillor, @samsterby, who is here

@Molly hasn’t been here since 2023.
Wonder how many Mastodon users resident in England and Wales voted Green
… see the poll following
@urlyman @thegreenparty @PortsmouthGreens @samsterby @Molly That raises another point re councillors.
This would be an opportunity to enable Green councillors to talk to each other, and be a forum that isn’t Facebook to talk to their constituents.
Might be one way of attracting some folks away from the grasp of Facebook.And, bureaucratically, it would be a way for leadership to keep up a better two-way dialogue with the increasing numbers representing it locally.
-
…To my awareness, most of the UK Green reps who are here are representing Scotland. Good for them.
It would be nice if the teams of the following showed *any interest at all* in on-going participation here:
Adrian Ramsay MP
@carladenyer MP
Caroline Lucas MP
Cynog Dafis MP
Ellie Chowns MP
Hannah Spencer MP
@sianberry MPBaroness Jenny Jones
Baroness Natalie Bennett@urlyman @carladenyer @sianberry @ZackPolanski @gruff is always active here. - I guess I don't quite qualify being only a Parish Councilor. But I do agree about the principles.
-
@nusher thanks Natasha. The poll above grew out of GPEW being absent from Mastodon.
I appreciate that Scottish Greens are here to some degree

@urlyman @BashStKid @carladenyer @sianberry @ZackPolanski @Bonfire @newsmast
Sounds like opportunity calls to work up a formal proposal inviting Greens to invest time and attention in the Fediverse.
Greens offer a vision for a better UK. Fedi offers a vision for better online communities. A perfect fit to mutually grow this better future together

Offer expertise in onboarding as a consultancy. Team up with UK based @autonomic for expertise in managed hosting for Bonfire, GoToSocial, Mastodon...
@la_rosa @urlyman @BashStKid @carladenyer @sianberry @ZackPolanski @Bonfire @newsmast we would be up for this!
We have experiance hosting many different fediverse platforms

@electropict thanks. My mistake again

Apologies if if got the wrong person but I think @pvonhellermannn was talking about a motion to conference on this?
I find GPEW’s policy process impenetrable in the extreme but would be good if those of us on here who are members could collaborate to push on this, either through a conference resolution or other route
