    Linux geeks:

I am trying to mount my NAS as a location on my Ubuntu box, and I discovered that apparently my network is only announcing machine names to Windows! I know I know the answer to this, but I cna't even remember the term to search for to do something about that. Thoughts?

@Sempf Usually that's mDNS broadcasts that tell everyone "hey, I'm publishing SMB shares at this IP"

@Sempf Couple different things this could be, but I'd first check that mDNS (Bonjour/avahi) is enabled on the NAS. Alternatively, if you're using an internal DNS server and custom domain, that can be a culprit.
