Smart glasses and even AI when used as an adaptive support for people with disabilities is always a good thing.... the problem is that the corporations behind these technologies are using them to exploit people and violate their privacy.
Our governments are failing us because we need legislation that regulates these technologies so that appropriate uses are allowed but corporate abuses are not.

How could the truly lifechanging and needed accessibility features be implemented without the Meta data extraction and stalkerware?
Let's support accessibility, and absolutely reject the people like Zuckerberg who cynically pervert real accessibility needs to further a surveillance empire.
@funnymonkey In the ideal world it would be a kickstarter company, then prototyping, testing by blind people, open-source software with independent audits. But in practice… blindness market is always a super-mega-niche thing. I won't write a War and Peace about it (if you wish, I can though) just not to make you tired, but read about Braille displays and their cost, for example, or for that matter about any special devices and their cost. I used to support such a small startup, in the end they just silently stopped selling their glasses and updating the software.
