Given the propensity of Apple to "seal" things it must be an interesting ride to change the batteries of ipods (and I have a couple that at least one of them the battery is no longer in good condition) -

Given the propensity of Apple to "seal" things it must be an interesting ride to change the batteries of ipods (and I have a couple that at least one of them the battery is no longer in good condition)@redravenspirit @jwildeboer the plastic faced ipods are quite easy to work on, but getting the aluminum ones open is way harder. Internally they are quite nice to repair

@jwildeboer i’m pretty sure the later nanos are a little worse to get open, but the 3g is a real pain. the classic should be easier so if you start with that one you’ll probably have a better time

The nano 3G has the white screen of death due to a bloated battery, so even more fun. -

@timmy @redravenspirit the good thing is that iPods are ubiquitous and many good videos and manuals on how to fix them are available. And getting spare parts even after 20 years is not a real problem.

The iPod nano 3G is open. And as expected, it has a bloated battery. But that can be fixed. It is still working, so a new battery should bring it back.

@jwildeboer Are the replacement batteries the same capacity as the old ones or was it possible to profit from the advancements in the mean time and get larger capacity with the same dimensions?
