    (Other than mass surveillance)

    The human body really ISN'T the best design, even for humans! Its about the most lazy design engineers could make. But the public probably is more comfortable with humanoid robots.

    One of the best designs for a multitude of tasks would probably be a modular centipede or an octopus shape. *eyeroll*

      The human body has a number of engineering weak points. The spine is a single point of failure. Similar to the legs.

      So many humans fall down the stairs each year. Or hurt their backs. Or ankles. Would a robot centipede have these problems?
      I feel that in most cases, it is a waste to create humanoid robots. Expensive to repair. Probably e-waste.

      Scifi also has this problem: robots that look and act like humans. I think scifi deserves more leeway because... its fiction!
