this week's opinion.

@NicksWorld @mcourcel @baxaphobia @pawpower @ratking It is an opinion. It's just worded tactfully.
@SapphireRose91 @mcourcel @baxaphobia @pawpower @ratking I guess tact is a better way. I should learn how to do that.

@NicksWorld @mcourcel @baxaphobia @pawpower @ratking And to the rest of us, that's obvious. Just wow! I don't know how that just isn't common sense to you.
-
@mcourcel @baxaphobia @pawpower @SapphireRose91 @ratking but the second isn't an opinion. It's just an experience. The first one is definitely an opinion, 1 that I disagree with obviously, but an opinion no less.
@NicksWorld @mcourcel @baxaphobia @SapphireRose91 @ratking So I guess the first question is what is your goal in sharing your opinion. Is your goal getting things off your chest? Is your goal sharing your experience and a willingness to hear the experience of others? What your goal is when you communicate often informs the words you choose when communicating. I can say things like I think Windows computers are stupid and I hate them. That is me being frustrated and getting something off my chest. Or I can say I really don't understand why people use Windows computers because I have found them to be difficult for someone who requires a braille display. That is also sharing my opinion, but is not impugning the choices of others and is asking for dialogue so hopefully I can learn something.

@SapphireRose91 @NicksWorld @mcourcel @pawpower @ratking Just think of how you may be insulting other people‘s choices. Sure we all have different opinions. We all have different choices. But again the blanket statements that you often make definitely start this whole crapshoot.

@pawpower @NicksWorld @mcourcel @baxaphobia @SapphireRose91 @ratking You could even go so far as to say, not trying to start anything but I think that... insert thing here and then be like this is just me thinking out loud, would love other people's thoughts, or something. If you're not looking for dialog just say so.

@MariahL @SapphireRose91 @LeonianUniverse @NicksWorld @mcourcel @pawpower @ratking I think it's different kinds of pain. Windows can be shorter and sharper pain, like burning your hand on a hot stove. I mean it happens, and then it gets better, and then a few months or a year or two years later it may happen again. The mac user is being pricked with a sharp pin, but it happens several times a day. It just keeps happening, and usually the holes the pin makes don't really heal before you get pricked again. Personally, I prefer the burn, but I know people who don't mind the pricking. Also, what gets on my nerves is that the pain from the Mac are things Apple could easily fix, bugs have been around for years, but they just don't.
@techsinger @MariahL @SapphireRose91 @NicksWorld @mcourcel @pawpower @ratking Yeah, I heard how complaisant Apple is in general about fixing VO bugs, and I think that's just terrible.

@baxaphobia @SapphireRose91 @mcourcel @pawpower @ratking My difficulty with the opinions @NicksWorld sometimes gives out isn't that they insult anyone's choices, it's just that they are sometimes factually wrong. I'm sorry for the bluntness, but I have seen that a few times now. Honestly, I don't care what other people think of my choices, anyone should Feel free to insult them. I make my choices for me. I'm happy to justify them if I have the time and am in the mood. In fact, the more insults, with reason, the better. What if I'm actually wrong and the reasons correct me? Obviously insulting choices isn't a great way to be popular, but social media isn't about being popular, right?

@techsinger @MariahL @SapphireRose91 @NicksWorld @mcourcel @pawpower @ratking I also gotta learn how my particular Mac works, because it doesn't have a keyboard with a 6-pack on it, so figuring out how that works is a little confusing.

@LeonianUniverse @techsinger @MariahL @SapphireRose91 @mcourcel @pawpower @ratking Can't you just connect the keychron to it? It has a mac keys layout switch.

@mcourcel @baxaphobia @pawpower @SapphireRose91 @ratking I've tried saying in my opinion. Is that too little? I'm starting to wonder why I even express my opinions at all when all it does is cause problems with people I'd rather not have problems with?
@SapphireRose91 @ratking @NicksWorld @pawpower @mcourcel @baxaphobia The thing to remember, Nick, is how you express your opinion. The wording. You often express your opinions in a way that isn't tactful, or in a way that is overly general, or about something you've had either no experience with or limited experience. This is what gets you into trouble and causes controversy. My suggestion is, you develop skills that will help you not do these things. HTH

@NicksWorld @mcourcel @LeonianUniverse @MariahL @SapphireRose91 @ratking @lynessence Applevis is a fabulous resource with manuals and tutorials, and they have an app directory where apps are rated by their accessibility and use ability in categories. I highly recommend that you start there.
@pawpower @NicksWorld @mcourcel @LeonianUniverse @MariahL @SapphireRose91 @ratking As a mac user who taught myself through only Apple support and the odd podcast, I would definitely recommend applevis.

this week's opinion. mac OS is nowhere near as good as IOS and iPad OS, at least for me and my personal experience having seen it and tried and trust me, I do mean tried and epically failed. If Mac came with those 2 operating systems instead of their own software, #Blind people would be way better off because who doesn't know how to use an iPhone or iPad these days? I'm not saying that all blind people know how to use it, just that a large amount go for Apple and windows instead of Android for a reason.
@NicksWorld As a Mac user for 15 years, I have to disagree. But it's okay, we're still friends. lol
-
@NicksWorld @ratking @SapphireRose91 Personally, and this is for me only, I use a Mac because it is the operating system on a computer that works most consistently with braille every single time. It doesn't matter which display it is it doesn't matter what kind of connection, Bluetooth or USB I can get braille every single time and for me that is the most important thing. I can work around everything else, but if I don't have braille, I don't have access and I know windows has NVDA and jaws and every time I try and use a display with one of these at some point I have to have a hearing person or someone who can see help me fix the configuration settings to fix it and it's annoying. So I will always use a Mac until Windows is as good with braille support as the Mac is.
@pawpower @NicksWorld @ratking @SapphireRose91 I use a Mac because it's not as high maintenance as Windows. I can do everything I need to on my Mac, and I am fast at it. Took me about a week to learn but it was good after that, and I enjoy learning new tech.
-
@NicksWorld @MariahL @mcourcel @pawpower @SapphireRose91 @ratking I would like to use my Mac more than I do, so if there are people here who use Mac as there daily driver, are there any resources out there that could help me learn how to use my Mac more efficiently? I would be more than willing to learn, because I really do like my Mac, but because I've been using Windows for longer, I'm not as familiar with how to use a Mac. And yes, everyone has purposes for different things, it’s not productive to indirectly bash people because you don't understand how they use something you don't.
@LeonianUniverse @NicksWorld @MariahL @mcourcel @pawpower @SapphireRose91 @ratking You can also dm me if you have questions.

@NicksWorld @lynessence @ratking @pawpower @SapphireRose91 This is exactly why I now just use my iPhone! Not everyone can or would choose to do that, but less maintenance and fewer updates was why I experimented with just using the phone, initially. Three years later, I'm still using just the phone and not a PC.

@lynessence @pawpower @NicksWorld @ratking @SapphireRose91 Bruno gave me a Mac a year ago and I've played with it but admittedly I haven't spent as much time as I should learning it. I need to get off my butt and do it.

@ratking @NicksWorld i tried to make friends with android. people said pixel was good for blind people. unfortuetly android and i didn't make friends. or the pixel and i perhaps.
