Monkland station? I wonder what the story is here, because as far as I know there is no such station.
@heliomass It used to exist though.
It used to be between Val-Royal (Bois-Franc) and Vertu (Montpellier), near the current du Ruisseau station.
It’s mentioned on this post from 1995.

@heliomass Monkland is the original station name prior to 1995 rebuild, It is now known as Du Ruisseau.
BTW, I have taken the time to make a huge complaint to the Esteahem about that sign, especially as the 170 doesn't pass/stop at the Du Ruisseau station.

@heliomass Former name of Du Ruisseau I believe, but I thought that was ancient history. That sign doesn't look that old
@NeueWelle It's really odd. Was it a deliberate easter egg from someone in the STM signage department?

@jfmezei Thanks, it's all very strange. It's probably something which will get fixed when they roll out the new design bus stop signs.

@heliomass haha, I wonder… We know the STM seems to resent the very existence of other transit agencies to a certain extent, this might just be a case of not being bothered enough to have up-to-date information on station names.
In a similar vein, in Cartierville, there are several stops that announce that the bus will be calling at Bois-de-Boulognes station, as if there were multiple Boulognes and not just the one. But that might be just be a case of standard Quebec spelling difficulties

That's the AMT (now ARTM d/b/a exo) icon. And since the DM line was given away and largely demolished to be replaced by #REMIsAJoke , that's just an obsolete sign.
Surprised to see the A-U-T-O-B-U-S number still in use ... that goes back to the early 80s before they even had stop numbers.

@jfmezei @heliomass now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure it was when I was looking at these old CN commuter timetables a couple years ago that I discovered that Monkland existed. So much fascinating history

I take that partially back ... it's a slight variation of the STCUM's original commuter rail logo (for the Rigaud and DM lines).

I'm not yet fully REMIsAJoke-pilled, but I admit I'm starting to have my doubts…On an unrelated topic, do you have any thoughts on the imminent closure of Weatheradio Canada? I was thinking of writing a blog post about it, and would be interested to have an expert opinion

Not an expert on anything. Parliament has never properly funded what is now Environment & CLIMATE CHANGE Canada & has never built out a proper public warning system. There are few forecast offices & now, no way to directly alert the public w/o going through a private company. I'm sure climate change will not increase the number of weather events that require emergency alerts.
The only thing they have funded is the network of WX radars ... with no way to alert folks w/o phones.

@VE2UWY yeah, they went to the trouble of putting climate change in the name of the ministry, and presumably climate change will lead to more extreme weather justifying a backup for when the internet goes down. And just in general, a lot of the commentary I've seen this week suggests Weatheradio was still being received in places with limited or no cell coverage.
I like the idea of the weather band and have the ability to receive it, but I never thought about it much beyond that until this week

@VE2UWY I thought 514AUTOBUS was introduced around 2003 when they introduced the 5 digit bus stops.
I remember stops before that having a 7-digit phone number called TelBus.

Page 1 on that map is so fascinating.
One: I didn't realize that the 209 used to go to the airport a long time ago - I thought it was a modern day thing. Also, some of those lines didn't change a ton.
Others, like the 51, 119 (and unrelated 128) have no ressemblance to their modern day lines. -

I like their current style with "cards" going off the line - or the previous red ones.
It's a really difficult challenge to convey this much information in a clear manner.
